WCA On-Line

WCA On-Line is an extension of the activities of the Wamboin Community Association, an on-line source for information such as our community newsletter, The Whisper, details of upcoming events, local news, and contact information for community groups that are active in the Wamboin area.

The Wamboin Community Association meets on the third Tuesday of every month, except January, at 7.30 pm, at the Wamboin Community Hall located at 112 Bingley Way, Wamboin. Residents, visitors and anyone interested in the Wamboin Community are welcome.

Although the statutory bush fire danger period (NSW Rural Fires Act 1997) nominally runs from 1st October to 31st March, NSW has extended the BUSHFIRE DANGER PERIOD for our LGA to commence early from 1st September.

During this extended BUSHFIRE PERIOD you must obtain a Fire Permit from Queanbeyan Fire Control Centre (02) 6128 0600 - to undertake hazard reduction burns, pile burns, or other open fires.

Variety of stalls, including lots of fresh fruit & vegies, healthy juices, coffee, egg & bacon rolls, jewellery, cards, lollies, dried fruits & nuts, cakes, sausage rolls, quiches, craft, knitting, preserves, and more.

Even though the fire season has ended, Wamboin RFS volunteers will again be on hand to answer any queries you have about protecting you home from bush fire.

New Residents' Guide now available!

The Wamboin Community Association (WCA) has published a New Residents’ Guide that is available free to all new (less than 2 years) residents of Wamboin.

The Guide is intended to:

  • create a “meet & greet” opportunity for residents to introduce themselves and the Wamboin community to their newly arrived neighbours
  • inform new residents of social, community, sporting and other groups and organisations that operate in the area
  • facilitate and encourage new residents to join the Wamboin Community Association, and
  • pass on useful hints about rural living.

If you have new neighbours and you'd like to give them a copy, or if you're new to the area and don't yet have a copy, you can pick one up at the WCA stall at the monthly Home Produce Markets, download the on-line version, or email the WCA Secretary (secretary@wamboincommunity.asn.au) to arrange your copy.
